For more than 100 years, Ambruster-Donnelly Mortuary has offered St. Louisans of all faiths and backgrounds a distinguished tradition of excellence in complete funeral direction, for traditional or contemporary funeral services.
Our landmark Tudor-style funeral chapel on Clayton Road (one mile west of Forest Park) offers a unique, beautiful, dignified commemorative setting with modern amenities and comforts for family members, visitors and guests for visitations and funeral services.
Our mortuary is centrally located from nearly anywhere in the greater St. Louis area in Clayton, Missouri, a central St. Louis County suburb.
Our founder, noted early St. Louis funeral director Robert J. Ambruster, envisioned a beautiful modern funeral facility that offered outstanding traditional decor with convenience, affordability and full service functionality. Our landmark funeral chapel embraces this concept to this day.
Designed by the noted St. Louis architectural firm of Maritz, Young and Dusard, the Ambruster-Donnelly Mortuary has been a Clayton landmark since 1931, situated in a scenic park-like setting near Clayton Road and Big Bend Boulevard, five minutes from Interstate 40 and the Skinker/McCausland exit.
Within our Tudor-style mortuary's castle-like stone walls is the elegant "Great Hall", an architecturally noted setting featuring distinctive "Old World" charm - impressive for visitations, funeral services, and memorial services. A pipe organ, loft, comfortable seating and attractive antique fixtures lend a distinguished atmosphere for the commemoration of the lives of loved ones remembered here.
An adjacent drawing room featuring carved oak paneling (and a light kitchen facility) can offer visitors and family members a convenient location for refreshments and hors d'oeuvres during visitation and after services.
A smaller parlor for smaller visitations is also available.
Ambruster-Donnelly Mortuary is conveniently located to Lambert St. Louis International Airport, as well as Downtown St. Louis, the Central West End, and West, South and North St. Louis County. We serve all public, private, denominational and national cemeteries and memorialization facilities within the Bi-State area - an important factor in making funeral arrangements locally or from out-of-town.
